Music Director

Dinah Majure

I was raised just a few miles from Nashville, and my father taught music reading in a cappella churches when he wasn’t singing some depressing bluegrass song about a coal mine explosion. I was singing alto by the time I started 1st grade! While I love old hymns, especially Southern Gospel, I developed a preference for classical music during my teens and earned degrees in both Music Ed and Early Childhood Ed.

After living all over the US, my husband Robert and I moved to Coupeville from Arizona about five years ago, where we both sang with the Phoenix Symphony Chorus as well as with a group that performed classical and folk music in Slavic languages like Russian and Serbian.

I am excited to be the Interim Music Director at Coupeville Methodist, having been a member of the church choir since we moved here. In the foreseeable future, the constraints forced by COVID-19 will require some extra creativity in ways to include music in our worship. I plan to put my familiarity with music styles as diverse as Rock of Ages, Rocky Top, and Rachmaninov to good use!
